How do I find my Ford vehicle's electronic serial number?

Your electronic serial number (ESN) can be found in your vehicle's SYNC®* or Ford Digital Experience®* settings, and you will need it for SiriusXM®† or map updates.

Locating Your ESN

Based on your vehicle's touchscreen display, select Ford Digital Experience or the SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to find your vehicle's ESN. If you need assistance identifying your SYNC generation, refer to the SYNC Visual Reference Guide.

Ford Digital Experience

Ford Digital Experience has three different ESNs.

  • The Infotainment ESN starts with "1SE."
  • The Onboard Modem ESN starts with "1TR."
  • The Sirius ESN is referred to as the "SiriusXM Radio ID." 

To locate your ESN using Ford Digital Experience:

  1. Choose the Apps icon or the Vehicle icon on your vehicle's Ford Digital Experience screen.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Swipe up on the Settings menu and select System.
  4. Swipe up the System menu and select About infotainment system.
  5. Scroll up or down the list to view the appropriate ESN:
    • Infotainment serial number (ESN)
    • SiriusXM radio ID
    • Onboard modem serial number

SYNC 4A

SYNC 4A has two different ESNs.

  • The ESN for SYNC Navigation map updates should start with a "V" or a "W."
  • The ESN for SiriusXM is also called the "Radio ID Number" and the "SiriusXM Radio ID."

Locating the ESN for SYNC Navigation Map Updates

  1. Choose Settings or the Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select General.
  3. Choose About SYNC.

Locating the ESN for SiriusXM

  1. Tune to channel "0" with SiriusXM on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select SXM Now Playing.
  3. Scroll to and select Help and Support.  

SYNC 4

SYNC 4 has two different ESNs.

  • The ESN for SYNC Navigation map updates should start with a "V" or a "W."
  • The ESN for SiriusXM is also called the "Radio ID Number" and the "SiriusXM Radio ID."

Locating the ESN for SYNC Navigation Map Updates

  1. Choose Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select General.
  3. Choose About SYNC.
  4. Scroll down until you see SYNC Serial Number (ESN).

Locating the ESN for SiriusXM

  1. Tune to channel "0" with SiriusXM on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select SXM Now Playing.
  3. Scroll to and select Help and Support.  

SYNC 3

SYNC 3 has two different ESNs.

  • The ESN for SYNC Navigation map updates should start with a "V" or a "W."
  • The ESN for SiriusXM is also called the "Radio ID Number" and the "SiriusXM Radio ID."

Locating the ESN for SYNC Navigation Map Updates

  1. Choose Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select General Settings.
  3. Choose About SYNC.
  4. Scroll to SYNC Serial Number (ESN).

Locating the ESN for SiriusXM

  • Option 1
    1. Select Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
    2. Choose SIRIUS.
  • Option 2
    1. Choose Audio on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
    2. Select SIRIUS.
    3. Tune the Satellite Radio to channel "0."

Note: If you have a 2016 model year vehicle and the SYNC Navigation map ESN does not display, update to SYNC software version 3.0 or newer. 

SYNC With MyFord Touch

SYNC with MyFord Touch® has two different ESNs.

  • The ESN for SYNC Navigation map updates should start with a "V" or a "W."
  • The ESN for SiriusXM is also called the "Radio ID Number" and the "SiriusXM Radio ID."

Locating the ESN for SYNC Navigation Map Updates

  1. Choose Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Help.
  3. Choose System Info. The ESN will be displayed on the System Info screen. 

Locating the ESN for SiriusXM

Tune to channel "0" on your SYNC system. The ESN will display on your screen. 

SYNC With Voice-Activated Navigation

SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation has two different ESNs.

  • The ESN for SYNC Navigation map updates should start with a "V" or a "W."
  • The ESN for SiriusXM is also called the "Radio ID Number" and the "SiriusXM Radio ID."

Next-Generation Navigation

  1. Press the Info button, which is a lowercase "i" with a square around it.
  2. Select System Info on your vehicle's touchscreen to view your ESN.

Navigation "P" Version

  1. Press the Menu button on the left side of the screen.
  2. Select System Information.
  3. Use the arrows on the touchscreen to locate the ESN.

SYNC Gen 1

SYNC Gen 1 has two different ESNs.

  • The ESN for SYNC Navigation map updates should start with a "V" or a "W."
  • The ESN for SiriusXM is also called the "Radio ID Number" and the "SiriusXM Radio ID." 

Locating the ESN for SYNC Navigation Map Updates

  1. Press the Menu button on your vehicle's SYNC system.
  2. Use the up and down arrows to scroll through the menu options until you see System Info.
  3. Select Ok.
  4. Use the up and down arrows to locate the ESN.

Locating the ESN for SiriusXM

Simultaneously press and hold the Sirius and Preset 1 buttons on your vehicle's SYNC system to view the ESN.
