How do I adjust the SYNC Navigation volume?

You can change the volume of your SYNC®* Navigation directional prompts by adjusting the volume while a navigation prompt is playing.

Changing Route Guidance Prompt Volume

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to change your SYNC Navigation prompt volume. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.

Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation

Select a resource in the table below to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation.

Either:

  • Enter your VIN and select Search.
  • Log in with your Ford credentials, choose a vehicle from your garage, and choose Select Vehicle.

Your SYNC generation will appear under the SYNC Current Version heading.

While a guidance prompt is playing, either:

  • Use the volume controls (Vol+ or Vol-) on your steering wheel.
  • Turn the audio volume control knob located on the center console.

Step 1: Enable the navigation voice prompts.

  1. Select Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Choose Navigation.
  3. Select Navigation Preferences
  4. Set Guidance Prompts to Voice and Tones.

Step 2: Adjust the navigation voice volume.

  1. Wait for the navigation voice to begin speaking.
  2. Adjust the volume using one of the following options before the voice finishes giving directions.
    • Using the volume controls (Vol+ or Vol-) on your steering wheel
    • Turning the audio volume control knob located on the center console

Note: The SYNC voice that you interact with when controlling climate, phone, entertainment, and media devices can be adjusted separately from the Navigation system voice that guides turn-by-turn directions.

SYNC With MyFord Touch®

Step 1: Enable the navigation voice prompts.

  1. Choose the Gear icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Choose Navigation.
  4. Select Navigation Preferences.
  5. Set Guidance Prompts to Voice and Tones.

Step 2: Adjust the navigation voice volume.

  1. Start a route on your navigation system.
  2. Select the Repeat Last Step icon. This is the circular arrow next to Menu.
  3. Turn the volume knob to your preferred level while the system is providing route guidance.

SYNC With Next-Generation Navigation

Step 1: Enable the navigation prompts.

  1. Select the Nav button on your vehicle's SYNC console.
  2. Choose Navigation Prefs.
  3. Set the Guidance Prompts settings to Voice.

Step 2: Adjust the navigation voice volume.

  1. Select Menu on your vehicle's SYNC console.
  2. Choose Feedback Settings.
  3. Adjust the Voice Volume setting to your preferred level.

SYNC With Nav "P"

  1. Select Menu on your vehicle's SYNC console.
  2. Choose Feedback on the Display screen.
  3. Set the Navigation Guidance option to On, then adjust the Voice Volume selection as needed.

    Note: Selecting Test will play a sound at the current volume level.
