How do I activate my SYNC Connected Navigation trial?

To set up your SYNC®* 4A or SYNC 4 Connected Navigation** trial, download the Ford app† and activate your modem. You will be automatically enrolled in the Connected Navigation trial once the modem is activated. 

Note: Your vehicle must be equipped with SYNC 4A or SYNC 4. Refer to your window sticker or the SYNC Visual Reference Guide to see which generation of SYNC your vehicle is equipped with.

Starting Your Connected Navigation Trial

  1. Download the Ford app on the App Store® or Google Play™.

  2. Log in to the Ford app using your existing Ford account username and password, or create an account.
  3. Select the plus sign (+) to add your modem-equipped vehicle to the Ford app.
  4. Scan or type in your vehicle's VIN.
  5. Choose Activate Vehicle.
  6. Go to your vehicle and start the engine in an open, well-ventilated, and safe area.
  7. Follow the prompts on your vehicle's SYNC screen to activate the modem.

Note: The Connected Navigation trial starts on the vehicle's warranty start date, not the date the modem is activated.

*Don't drive while distracted or while using handheld devices. Use voice-operated systems when possible. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.

**Equipped vehicles require modem activation and a Connected Navigation service plan. Package pricing, features, included plans, and term lengths vary by model. Evolving technology/cellular networks/vehicle capability may limit or prevent functionality.
