What are the SYNC 4 Navigation options?

SYNC®* 4A and SYNC 4 offer two premier navigation options: Connected Navigation** and Connected Built-in Navigation. Both provide intuitive, real-time mapping directly on your vehicle's screen to help you find the smoothest routes, without worrying about battery limits, dead-zone hassles, or plugging in your phone.

Ford's Connected Navigation options provide live traffic, Yelp™ integration, weather conditions, a streaming map, and more, including:

  • Voice Activation: You can ditch distractions and stay focused on the road with voice-activated route requests and guidance.
  • Real-Time Traffic: You can outsmart congestion with cloud-based, real-time traffic updates and automatic rerouting due to weather conditions, road hazards, and more.
  • Offline Mapping: You can update and store maps of your favorite locations in your Ford vehicle so you are never caught off-guard by detours or cellular dead zones.

Notes: 

  • SYNC 4A and SYNC 4 also support smartphone navigation using a data plan on devices with Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™.  You are responsible for data consumption costs as per your smartphone data plan.
  • Cellular dead zones may impact navigation. 

SYNC 4A and SYNC 4 Navigation Trials

Refer to the table below for the trial periods of Ford's Connected Navigation and Connected Built-in Navigation. 

Note: To find out if your vehicle is equipped with Connected Built-in Navigation, log in to your Ford Account through the Ford Connected Service page. You can also use the Build and Price tool to view feature availability for new vehicles.

Connected Navigation (Various Trial Periods)Connected Built-in Navigation (3-Year Trial)

A free trial begins on the vehicle's warranty start date, not the date the modem is activated. Trial periods will vary depending on your vehicle model and year. To see your trial length, refer to your Ford Account through Connected Service page.

Once your trial period ends, you will lose the destination routing functionality.

To purchase a subscription and continue using Connected Navigation, sign in to your Ford Account through the Connected Service page to extend your service.

A 3-year free trial begins on the vehicle's warranty start date, not the date the modem is activated.

Once your trial period ends, your Navigation will revert to Embedded Navigation with no Connected Navigation services. 

To purchase a subscription and continue to use Connected Built-in Navigation, connect to your Ford Account through the Connected Service page to extend your service.

For both Connected Navigation and Connected Built-in Navigation, the full map is updated yearly, and the home zone (your set home address) is updated quarterly while service is active. Maps update automatically through software updates during your free trial and subscribed service periods.
