How do I check for SYNC or Ford Digital Experience updates?

You can view available Ford Digital Experience*, SYNC®** 4A, and SYNC 4 updates in your vehicle. For most other SYNC generations, you will need to visit the SYNC and Navigation Updates page.

Finding Software Updates

Select Ford Digital Experience or your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to check for updates. If you need assistance determining what system your vehicle is equipped with, select the first drop-down option.

Identifying Your Ford Digital Experience or SYNC System

Either:

  • Enter your VIN and select Search.
  • Log in with your Ford credentials, and choose a vehicle from your garage.

Ford Digital Experience or your SYNC generation will appear near the image of your vehicle.

Ford Digital Experience

  1. Select Settings on your vehicle's Digital Experience screen.
  2. Pick System.
  3. Choose Software Updates.
  4. Select Update Details to display any pending updates and previous update details.

  1. Choose the Settings or Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Software Updates.
  3. Pick Update Details to display any pending updates and previous update details.

  1. Select Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Pick Software Updates.
  3. Choose Update Details to display any pending updates and previous update details. 

SYNC 3 | SYNC With MyFord Touch® | SYNC Gen 1.1 | SYNC Gen 1

  1. Visit the SYNC and Navigation Updates page.
  2. Enter your VIN and select Check for update.
  3. Select the SYNC Update Available dropdown.
    • If your SYNC software is current, you will see a green checkmark and a message stating that an update is not available for your vehicle.
    • If your SYNC software is not current, you will see a triangle with an exclamation point (Warning icon (exclamation point in triangle)). Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your software update.
